My new book, The Apostasia - Rapture or Rebellion
My new book, The Apostasia - Rapture or Rebellion: An in depth study of the meaning of apostasia in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 is now on sale. A growing trend in certain pre-tribulation circles is to
promote the idea that the Greek noun apostasia in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 means the rapture. This view is based on a myriad of lexical fallacies, early English translations, and other fallacious arguments. Of course, a majority of Christian scholars across the eschatological spectrum reject this interpretation and believe that apostasia in this verse refers to rebellion or apostasy.
In the book, I demonstrate, based on a large number of lexical entries, that the Greek noun apostasia means rebellion. In Koine Greek (300 B.C. – 300 A.D.), the word never refers to a spatial departure, as is asserted by some Bible teachers. I also demonstrate that the "evidence" of early English translations of the Bible is flawed based on the semantic anachronism fallacy. The meanings of words change over time; therefore, using old translations as evidence can be a dangerous practice.
This is a very niche book; however, it is essential to stamp out errors whenever possible. Hopefully, everyone in all eschatology camps can agree that we should never manipulate scripture to prove our theologies.
